Acai Berries For Killing Cancer Cells

 Acai berry is a very nutritious fruit and tastes nice. It has been a staple food of the Brazilian people since centuries. Recently, this fruit has gained international fame because of its healing qualities and has emerged as a super food for day-to-day life. Since its popularity is increasing tremendously, doctors are trying to research its anti-cancer potential as well.

Acai berry is mainly grown in the Amazon River basins of Brazil. These grape size berries are dark purple in color and contain essential antioxidants. 

Free radical molecules are very harmful to health and can be caused by anything, cigarette smoking, pesticides, or even with exercise, thereby, damaging cells and DNA.

There are a number of diseases like the Alzheimer's disease, Cancer, and Arthritis which are caused due to free radical damage. Nature has provided us with antidotes to the problem of free radicals in the form of fruits and vegetables which act as Antioxidants. Antioxidants help to strengthen cells and protect the body against free radicals. The percentage of the antioxidant activity of a particular food is measured in terms of ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity score).

The acai berry has the highest number of antioxidants are and this is the fact that the ORAC value of acai berry is 167 tests. And 'much later when the 32 blueberries and apples that have a value of 14 included in the comparison. The risk of cancer and other diseasesis on a rise and so it becomes all the more necessary that we increase the intake of foods with high antioxidant content.

A research was conducted on cell-culture model at The University of Florida which showed that acai berries lead to self-destruction of the human cancer cells. This shows that acai berries will have the same effect on human beings as well. Although it has not been proved yet that acai berries help to fight cancer, the research is definitely quite positive.
