Second Coming Up Karla Interview: Darocas!

My second interview: Karla Darocas - Canuck Expatriate in Spain!

As you probably already know, as I have a great fascination for everything Spanish (my article on Hispanophilia, will confirm), so I'm twice for Spain last year. My second trip, where I visited places such as Barcelona, Tarragona, Valencia, Ibiza and Montserrat, I also spent several days on the Costa Blanca, the most eastern of Spain, which juts into the Mediterranean.

My friend andInternet Mentor David I had connected with one of his close friends, a very interesting woman from Canada, who had moved to Spain a few years earlier. Karla Darocas was very kind and invited me to stay with her for a night or two, and I had a chance to peek into the life of an expatriate Canuck on the Costa Blanca.

Karla, his Scottish friend Rhonda and I went on a day trip to the local train to Benidorm, the largest city in the town along the CostaBlanca. We talked about life in Spain, its culture and especially the huge influx of northern Europeans, especially pensioners, are found along the whole Spanish. If I remember correctly, is something of Spain expects 4 million northern Europeans to settle in Spain in coming years.

As a result, there is huge real estate development along the coast and in some places like Marbella literally every square inch of available space waspaved. For a person with any kind of love for nature, what has happened along the coasts of southern Spain, to see very painful. The development has progressed with very few restrictions and serious water shortages due to Spain and environmental problems caused by urban sprawl, overcrowding of coastal areas, such as building golf courses. The huge increase in prices along the coast is virtually impossible for local people able to afford a housethere.

But despite all these excesses, there are many beautiful places, and in particular the area where life Karla is a very scenic stretch of Spain. Karla is a very interesting person who is an artist, but also involved in a variety of businesses and nonprofit initiatives. They, too, is one of those people who manage to combine art with business. I found them to be and I appreciate the opportunity to spend a day and a half with a very generous hostWho can help me an overview of the local environment.

Your call will provide insight into a culture that appeals to many of us in one of the most beautiful and diverse. Karla Frank comments describe Spanish society and the life of an expatriate American North and offer insights into a fascinating and contradictory culture.
